Programmer/Software Developer, Level 2 (Java)

Description:
To provide additional skills and capacity to the maintenance and development teams in support of a Modernization initiative. To support the re-development of existing module as well as to apply changes to support integration and decommission of new/old functionality.

Security Clearance:
Must hold a valid Government of Canada security clearance to at least the Enhanced Reliability level.

Requirements:
  • Must have minimum of 5 years of experience as Java programmer/software developer creating and modifying software code, developing functional specifications and design documentation.
  • Must have minimum of 3 years of experience as Programmer/Software Developer on at least one medium or large (10+ programmers & 2+ years) system development projects using the Java programming language.
  • Must have minimum of 2 years of cumulative experience as programmer/software developer on development or maintenance projects using; Java 2 EE or later, Swing, Spring, Jasper, JPA/Hibernate.
  • Must have minimum of 1 year of experience in application development or maintenance using an Oracle database. Must include development and/or maintenance of PL/SQL package, stored procedures to be called from a Java application through Hibernate and JDBC.
  • Must have completed Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Computer Programming, Computer technology, Computer engineering or Software engineering or equivalent.
  • Should have University degree in Computer Science, Computer engineering, Software engineering or equivalent.
  • Should have experience designing and developing user interface using direct calls to the Swing API.
  • Should hav experience designing and developing user interface using the Swing API and Matisse.
  • Should have experience developing complex data access layer combining multiple physical data sources using JPA/Hibernate and Oracle.
  • Should have experience developing reports using Jasper.
  • Should have experience developing REST (Jersey) and/or RPC style web services in Java.
  • Should have experience working in a formal multi-team environment where application developers must communicate and rely on others teams (e.g. Testing, Database Engineering, Data Modeling, Configuration management and environment management). In order to accomplish their work.
  • Should have the following valid SUN Java certifications: Sun Certified Java Associate (SCJA) Sun Certified Java Programmer (SCJP) Sun Certified Java Developer (SCJD) Sun Certified Web Component Developer (SCWCD) Sun Certified Business Component Developer (SCBCD) Sun Certified Developer for Java Web Services (SCDJWS) Sun Certified Enterprise Architect (SCEA)
